Welcome to the official website of the Upsilon Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. On behalf of our nearly 200 members, I invite you to explore our site to gain a greater understanding of who we are and what we do.


As members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
®, the illustrious ladies of Upsilon Tau Omega are dedicated to the ideals of service and sisterhood. Since our 1997 chartering, we have worked tirelessly to implement programs that enrich the lives of residents of Southern Prince George’s County, Maryland. We value the relationships that have enabled us to further this mission, and we continue to seek partnerships with similarly-focused organizations.

 

Under the leadership of our distinguished International President, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, we are Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service by executing programming in the following target areas:

Alessandra Poroj

UTO Member,  Alessandra Poroj is the creator and founder of Women of Worth & Destiny (WOWD) Center for Wellness.  WOWD Center for Wellness was founded in 2017.

WOWD Center for Wellness is a sacred space for women to explore and engage various practices and modalities that support women to live fully by partnering with them in restorative, healing, and transformational self-care practices such as Reiki, yoga, Thai foot massage, meditation, and ritual filled ancestral practices like sealing ceremonies and blessing way (mother’s blessing) ceremonies. WOWD Center for Wellness creates space for women to be strengthened, healed and empowered at every layer—body, mind, heart and spirit to walk fully in their divine feminine power and fulfill their destiny. Through Mama’s Well programs, WOWD Center for Wellness partners with women who are trying to conceive, pregnant and post-partum.

2020 May BusinessoftheMonth - Alessandra Poroj

Alessandra is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, where she was initiated into the Epsilon Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She celebrated her 25th year in the Sorority in 2019. She is a licensed pharmacist, ordained minister, registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), certified pre- and postnatal yoga teacher, Reiki level 2 practitioner, certified Thai foot massage practitioner, and certified holistic fertility doula.
