What is this?
Redistricting will determine how our local school board, city council, county council, state legislative and congressional districts are drawn.
Minority residents have often had little say in the creation of redistricting plans approved by state legislatures. Minority communities were divided up, fractured and placed into many different districts (known as “cracking or unnecessarily concentrated in a small number of districts, which prevents fair representation across a greater number of districts (known as “packing”). Since the 80s and 90s, progress has been made to give minorities a voice and fair representation by the Voting Rights Act ,and more engagement of minority communities in the redistricting process.
Join this webinar to learn what redistricting is all about so YOU CAN AFFECT FAIR REPRESENTATION FOR YOUR COMMUNITY.
